Architectural Designer/Woodworker | Christopher N. Gallegos

I believe expression to be the most important function of art. Art that requires physicality, especially within one's environment, is the greatest means of expression because it is born from an active expression of self.

This perspective, art as an extension of the Id, is what I believe my design seeks. The vast, ingrained beliefs that emerge with growing in the suburban sprawls of New York; Learning in the city of Chicago, within an increased population density; and the slow refinement of a craft established in Brooklyn - all serve as a backdrop to my creative canvas; the springboard to new and exciting ideas waiting to be discovered.

I believe space is carved out through the action of reorganizing, recombining, delineating, and expanding - I attempt to define space through an illustrative style bordering between story and art, line and mass, function and utility.  Above all, architecture's primary purpose should be to tell a story that is intriguing, thought-provoking, insightful, and socially responsible. Questions and discoveries should arise where one never believed they could.

I endeavor to treat each project as a means of exploration - exploration in myself and through the medium of my conveyance; To stop questioning is to die.

As such, the works you see on these pages are always shifting, configuring, adjusting or realigning, all in an effort to push myself and the medium forward. I place my heart in every detail and pencil stroke, and place my trust in others to which I am always rewarded and thankful I did.

I am always open to learning more about design and meeting new people, so If you have an unusual problem that needs solving or would like to collaborate, please contact me below
